SEMA Car Show 2019 at Las Vegas

The reason why we started this activity is to establish the brand Josefin Garage as a reference point in the Tuning sector.

Therefore, our philosophy implies to always improve and to interpret new incoming trends, before they become “common knowledge” to the public.

Pursuing this direction, the comparison with other realities in the industry is not only inevitable, but necessary.

For this reason we decided to dedicate a short page of this blog to our new adventure that, in November 2019, led us to cross the ocean and visit what is perhaps the global appointment of tuning: the SEMA Show in Las Vegas

In the middle of the desert arises the “fun-park city” par excellence and symbol of excesses: casinos, hotels that stand out against the sky and that have the most varied forms and themes, until you get to the extravagant people who walk the street. So, there is no better location that could host this appointment for Tuning, which is appreciated and not so hardly condemned by to many quibbles and bureaucratic obstacles to overcome as in Italy. 

Surely from this point of view the Americans have understood the potential of having a strong industry, working together with manufacturers, providing parts always better in quality and safety for end users. Since 1963, in fact, the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) has found its place as an Aftermarket trade fair, but over time the same OEM manufacturers, dealers, media and much more have also been added, up to more than 6,300 exhibitors from all over the world

Perhaps the most outstanding thing of all is that the fair is not open to the public. These exceptional numbers are even more extraordinary when you think that the entrance is reserved only for people related to the industry as company and so on.

It is also true that, thanks to social media, the promotion of the event takes place thanks to the numerous youtubers, journalists,  vloggers who contribute to increase the fame of this annual appointment through millions of “digital” spectators. 

Many American “garages”, which have become known with the more or less popular and questionable recent TV series, meet at this event to unveil their latest “custom” creations. Precisely, because this fair has no equal in the world, here you can admire the different styles and interpretations of tuning made on classic cars and evergreen, until the most recent automobile. 

As Josefin Garage, we believe this type of healthy competition is fundamental. After the first official meeting of the Josefin Garage group with some of our customers during the Wörthersee 2019 in Austria, we wanted to be present at this globally-known event.

Our activity is growing fast and we always have new customers, most of them outside Italy, who contact us for our seriousness and experience in the work we do. 

We believe it is essential, to underline the professionalism and style that distinguish us, to come in contact with the new trends proposed by the sector. This means becoming aware of the new products available and the new methods of using new materials, as well as new innovative solutions, to ensure our customers greater quality and performance from components, whether mechanicals, structural or aesthetics. 

We had the opportunity to meet and discuss with experts in the field and many “guru” of this sector. The classic “American” atmosphere is really relax and those people find the time to discuss and reply to many questions, because they are driven by our same passion. This approach helps to create a healthy and motivating environment.

As an Italian company, we were pleased to have been welcomed by colleagues from other countries, especially from America and Japan, with a lot of warmth and interest in the work we do, even on cars that are not always popular overseas.

At the same time, we were able to exchange views on engines and new styles of cars not in great demand in our country. This last step, very important, allows us to work with experienced partners even on those cars not very popular in Italy. In fact, those owners often struggle to find companies prepared with such a technical background to be able to work seriously on this type of cars.

In short, this was an exceptional event and a fantastic first experience. We like to improve and always raise the level of our Tuning. For this reason we are sure that this is only the first step towards a great internationalization of our brand.

Honda NSX the “New Sport eXperience”

In more recent times, Honda has been dusting off the name NSX to amaze again, without changing the recipe, keeping the continuity with the Japanese philosophy.  

The futuristic line was already in the air for a long time with the various concepts and images available on the internet, but seeing a production car that manages to retain most of the stylistic solutions of the original prototype is no small thing.

The NSX project was born thanks to Honda’s victories and experience in Formula 1 and thanks to an exceptional test driver, Ayrton Senna. Honda had put futuristic stylistic solutions on the plate to develop a thoroughbred sports car to compete with the most famous European brands. The search for technological innovation also characterizes this new model that, starting from design, promises to make you dream again. In fact, for a mid-engine car, this Honda NSX looks very balanced and dynamically very agile which is not a foregone conclusion. As before, there are no frills, but the must remains the simple formula that states: “form follows the function”.

Let’s review what makes this new model special and for what reason, because in my humble opinion, it should be appreciated. Honda pushes it to the next level up again and, always in its own way, recreates a milestone no longer in the world of sports cars, but in fact in the world of supercars. The new NSX has 4 engines: the central rear engine, a V6 biturbo 3.5 liters able to deliver about 507 hp that is coupled to 3 electric units.

An electric motor is mounted directly on the gearbox, while the other two motors are mounted on the front axle, also managing the distribution of torque on the front wheels, transforming the NSX into an intelligent four-wheel drive. The electric unit provides an extra 74 hp for a total output of 581 hp. The management of the collaboration between these engines is entrusted to a refined electronics able to adapt the car to the most diverse situations.

Not only because of the enormous leap in power, but also because of the complete driving dynamics this giant step forward is clearly visible. The new NSX has different driving modes, from “comfort” to “track”, passing through more or less sporty modes that are able to adapt the mechanics of the car to the most diverse situations: from city driving to the track. 

The dual clutch gearbox has 9 gears to ensure the right gear and a lightning-fast gear change in every situation. 

Honda is able to produce an innovative product while remaining faithful to its essence of sportiness and innovation: the multi-component chassis, while remaining lightweight, is much stiffer than most of the competitors. Moreover, despite the configuration of a two-seater sports car, the external visibility, as on the old model, remains excellent. However, the most important innovations are not visible but they must be experienced while driving. Honda worked hard to propose a worthy heir of the NSX model and this has included the development of new technologies. 

In addition to the hybrid, wire brake control is one of the most important innovations introduced. Despite the absence of analogue controls, this digital platform still promises feedback and controllability worthy of its segment. 

The direct steering and electric motors with torque vectoring at the front make the NSX a lightning bolt in curves and together with the magnetic-ride suspensions adapt the set-up of the car in fractions of a second, always having the optimal set-up and the perfect combination of the various components in response to external situations.  

With its sophisticated design and hybrid technology, this NSX is sure to be an objectively interesting car, even though nothing that moves a supercar buyer is objective. Honda tries to put logic and rigor back into a world dominated by emotions. The latest NSX is being understood more now than then… and this new model, built in North America and designed for the US market seems to arouse a lot of interest in Europe, but nothing more than this. “Posterity, the arduous verdict will declare”.

Best of Italy Race and Tour 2019

Everything is ready for another edition of the Best of Italy Race and Tour. This year, the Italian Festival of Speed will renovate its programme, keeping its winning essence. 

This year, 13 – 15 September, make sure you keep your agenda free from any other appointment. You do not want to lose your chance to admire some of the finest automobiles and motorbikes ever build which will run flat out on the street!

For those who are still not familiar with this format, The Best of Italy Race (BOIR), is a meeting dedicated to Italian supercars, Italian motorbikes and Italian bicycles which will entertain spectators for an entire weekend through events scheduled on a closed public road of 15km.
Due to the fact that the location becomes a temporary private circuit, race cars and race motorbikes are allowed to join too, giving to the public an extraordinary performance.
This year’s edition, the forth one, the BOIR will allow half of the cars and half of the motorbikes from non-Italian brands, becoming a sort of “Italy vs Rest of the World” concept.
Here there is no competition; there is no rivalry, just an amazing atmosphere which rewards the passion for beauty.
This edition will take place between the locations of Bobbio and Salsomaggiore; two wonderful cities surrounded by stunning streets, immersed in the breath-taking Italian landscape. No surprise, a big slice of the participants comes from other European countries to take part in this unconventional party where the Italian “Dolce Vita” seems to be the light motive.

Participants can look forward to extraordinary automobiles and motorbikes, curvy roads surrounded by postcard-like scenery and Italian food.
